Who is a Childminder?
A childminder is a childcare professional who looks after children in their own home. This provides a family setting for children to grow and learn. Childminders are regulated by Ofsted.

- Ensuring appropriate health and safety and child protection requirements are met.
- Working with and supporting parents and other family members to improve their child’s development.
- Encouraging children to develop social skills by providing inspirational learning activities through play.
- Helping children to develop number and language skills through activities like counting games and storytelling.
- Providing a range of free play activities, both indoors and outside
- Taking older children to and from playgroup or school
- Working with other local childcare professionals to support children’s learning and development
- Observing and assessing children and producing written reports on each child’s development.
